Maakeliya Ella

Situated in Paalinda Nuwara Divisional Secretariat Division. It flows along a rock surface as a river about 1/4 miles then fall down creating a waterfall which has 60 – 70 height. The legend says that an ancient major of King Parakramabaahu the 5th (Weediya Bandara) has formed his army and planned the battle with Portuguese while hiding in this place. At present a stage has constructed close to the main road for the safety and convenience of the tourists who are coming to visit this place. Also the facilities has provided to have a bath from the river
